Intrinsic cellular instabilities of hydrogen laminar outwardly propagating spherical flames

چکیده
In this study, the influences of pressure, temperature and equivalence ratio on onset cellular instabilities in premixed hydrogen/air laminar flames were studied using a constant volume fan-stirred combustion vessel. The instability is marked by critical stretch rate, at which flame speed rapidly deviates from its prior response to stretch. It noted that Peclet number, Pecl, increases with increasing both temperature, indicating more stable flame. Whilst, Pecl decreases initial pressure due associated decrease Markstein Mab pressure. Empirical correlations Kcl, as function Mab, are developed presented. Such can be employed estimate severity large-scale atmospheric hydrogen flames.

Characterization of Freely Propagating Hydrogen Flames
We explore the detailed structure of heat release and the energy budget for a freely-propagating lean, premixed hydrogen flame. At lean conditions, the flame is thermodiffusively unstable and spontaneously develops the cellular burning structures, characteristic of this type of flame. The instabilities in the system saturate quickly, resulting in robust, slowly evolving cellular burning feature...
متن کاملEffect of the temperature difference between gas and organic dust on propagating spherical flames
A new analytical study performed to investigate the effect of the temperature difference between gas and particle in propagation of the spherical flames. The combustible system is containing uniformly distributed volatile fuel particles in an oxidizing gas (Air) mixture. The model includes evaporation of volatile matter of dust particles to known gaseous fuel (methane) and the single-stage reac...
متن کاملChemically-Passive Suppression of Laminar Premixed Hydrogen Flames in Microgravity
Effects of chemically-passive fire suppressants on laminar premixed hydrogen flames were investigated by combined use of microgravity experiments and computations. The experiments used a short-drop free-fall laboratory facility that provides at least 450 ms of 2 10 g. Near -limit laminar burning velocities were measured for outwardly propagating spherical stoichiometric hydrogen-air flames with...
متن کاملexperimental study of cellular instabilities in non - premixed flames
A systematic experimental study was performed to elucidate the conditions for which cellular patterns of diluted hydrogen diffusion flames near extinction were observed. The formation of cellular instabilities was studied for several burners: jet burners (axisymmetric jet and two-dimensional jet) and a novel one-dimensional burner. The fuel and oxidizer Lewis numbers and the initial mixture str...
متن کاملMorphology and Burning Rates of Expanding Spherical Flames in H2/o2/inert Mixtures up to 60 Atmospheres
Recognizing that previous experimental studies on constant-pressure, outwardly propagating, spherical flames with imaging capability were limited to pressures less than about 5 atm, and that pressures within internal combustion engines are substantially higher, a novel experimental apparatus was designed to extend the environmental pressure to 60 atm. Results substantiate previous observations ...
